About five years ago I was one of the final bidders on an eBay auction featuring the first Toyota Crown to be imported in the States, a 1957 sedan that had been in storage for decades following a short career as diplomatic transportation for the Japanese consulate in San Francisco. I was very excited to get my hands on this piece of history, but ultimately a museum in the southwest won the auction, which was probably for the best because I had no idea where to even start on a restoration. Now plenty of people can enjoy it instead of another layer of dust collecting in my garage.
My eBay feed brought me something interesting this morning, so I pushed this sweet little gem to the top of the list. It's a vintage Toyota Crown that is being sold in Indiana, alongside Lamborghinis and Maclarens. The color, the wheels, the stance, all perfect!
